Turning Fear Into Courage: Finding Your Power In Public Speaking

TIME: Saturday, April 21, 2018 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM EST

LOCATION: 50 Milk Street Boston, MA 02109

Fear is a common experience for almost every person that speaks in front of an audience of any size. Rejection, failure, ridicule, not knowing answers to questions, the list goes on. Most of this fear can be managed and overcome, allowing you to feel more confident, and deliver a clear and impactful presentation. Famous speakers have worked hard to overcome their fears, and go through a conscious preparation before they take the stage. In this bootcamp we will identify what comes between you and presenting confidently, and learn techniques to move through your fears. You will leave the bootcamp with a personalized plan to overcome your fear of public speaking.

*This bootcamp has pre-work!* Come prepared with a 3-minute speech on any subject you choose. Please bring a written copy for the instructor. Try to present it with no notes, or only with high-level bullet points on index cards.

You'll walk away from this workshop with:

  •  What fear and stress are, and how they manifest in public speaking

  •   What the optimal state of stress is for public speaking

  •   Useful techniques to overcome feelings of fear in public speaking

  •   Why you don’t need to be afraid of the audience

  •   How to put the audience at ease, and keep them attentive
